Wedding Officiant Insight:
I've been asked my opinion on $25.00 or $50.00 Officiants.
I can't say a whole lot because I don't personally know any. My personal opinion is that you get what you pay for, just as you do with any other service. I know that Professional Wedding Officiants, such as myself, spend hours on our couples. We take the time to find out exactly what our couples want and we work hard to design their vows and a ceremony that THEY want. We want their wedding to be as wonderful as if it were a ceremony for one of our own family members. For many of us, weddings are our life. It isn't just a whim to us. We want to be the best at what we do. We devote time and effort into making our couples wedding day a day to remember. We want everything to go "just right" that day. We keep up with trends in the Bridal Industry, meet with our couples, design their vows and ceremony, give endless consultations, give advice and tips, practice the ceremony, arrive early in case the couples have any last-minute questions or need any extra help. Many of us travel to other areas because a couple needs an Officiant and we don't want them to have to change their wedding date because they can't find a local Officiant. It's hard to imagine that someone would do all of this for $25.00, isn't it? If we are also hired for the rehearsal, that entails more work and more travel for a small fee. More than likely, we end up having to direct the rehearsal (at no extra cost to the couple.) We don't mind, because that's what we love to do.
Choose an Officiant that works WITH YOU to create the day you want. If an Officiant genuinely cares about the finished product (your wedding day!), then they will most likely charge more than $25.00 or $50.00 for their services. Just remember, when choosing your Officiant--the wedding can't go on without the Officiant!
